This is a report on our New Years...because it's never too late for that. Look out for an entry about my New Years resolutions, sometime in June.

The incredibly social Christmas was followed by a slightly less social New Years. We did go to some lovely people's place for a BBQ (which was interrupted by rain) but it was just the one place and we weren't hopping all over the place.

Actually, scrap that. It was the one place...but when it crept towards midnight we went down the street to a neighbour's place to hang out with the rest of the town (very small town, no street lights, whole town fits into one backyard) and sing songs whilst our host played the guitar and everyone around us got drunk on their own home made spirits.

I had a great time. I've never experienced such a large group of people all knowing the words to El Paso by Marty Robbins. But then again, the demographic was considerably older than me. But it was nice to have someone playing the guitar and playing songs I grew up with and enjoyed.

So New Year's Eve was brought in with song, cheers and whiskey. And everyone kissing everyone "Happy New Year".

It was definitely a different New Year's to last time, when we were two foot deep in snow and letting off our own fireworks in the middle of Finland.
