Sydney is Really Horny This entry was going to be written last Friday. Because now its all a little bit too late. Anyway, lets pretend its last Friday, shall we? *puts on time travel hat* ZAP! Everyone with me? No splinching? No nausea? Excellent :o) Driving to work on Friday morning was fun. The Socceroos had just won their last game in the group games and we were headed into the second round. Our World Cup dream had gone beyond anything wed ever done before (well that was secured the moment Cahill got that first goal against Japan). People were driving up Parramatta Road and honking their horns. Flags were flying, drunk people were stumbling along the footpath and people were pumping their fists, left, right and centre. And when I was stopped at the lights and the car next to me started beeping their horn, I joined right in. It was exhilarating. In a city like Sydney where most of the time you ignore one another and never smile it was like everyone was one big family. We were united. Now hold hands children, were going back to the future! ZOINK! Ah yes, indeed. This morning. *cough* Well it was Italy, are we surprised? I am a little. Not because we lost, I figured that was a foregone conclusion, but because we lost by one measly little [controversial] goal. We stood up against a bloody good team and we werent immediately handed our arses. It took them 94 minutes to get a goal. 94 minutes! I reckon we should pat ourselves on the back for a bloody good job. Congrats to the English for getting out of their group also (not really surprised though) will probably support them fully now. Although The Sexy is quarter Italian...loyalties divided! Oh and you may have noticed I have a Make your mark section now. No more gbook comments not specifically assigned to entries (although the gbook is still functioning if you like to make general comments ;oP). Feel free to use the brand spanking new comments section. Tyd 27 June 2006 - 12:07 pm |
