A Finland Christmas - It's Still Really Cold

There really is far too much fun that has been had in the last week or so to fit into one entry...unless of course you'd like to read 6,000 pages of writing which I'm sure you don't.

We are now in Tallinn, Estonia and full to the brim with delicious food served at a medieval restaurant. Just before dessert there was a very loud arguement and sword fight between a few of the waiters and then a girl came out and belly-danced with a tray of candles on her head. Very precarious!

But before all of this we spent a week in Kittila" (darn, it's a Russian keyboard now and it doesn't have the a's with the dots above it as a key) at a hotel that catered for people wanting a Lapland adventure with reindeers, snowmobiles, huskies and all sorts of bloody cold weather things and tonnes of snow!

In short:
- We learnt how to lasso a reindeer by practising on a pair of antlers stuck to a stump of wood. We were both successful. Then we had to do it on live animals...less successful. Mainly because they were uncastrated males that had already shed their antlers for the winter.
- We 'mushed' our own team of 4 huskies and only fell off once! They take off really fast.
- Snowmobiling is loads of fun...just watch out for the lakes that aren't fully frozen.

The coldest I have felt is -18C...Sydney winters now seem like a heatwave!

That's about it, we're off shopping for a cheap suitcase tomorrow...it's that sort of trip when we end up with far too much stuff

Contentedly yours
