Playing It My Way, Baby

We have finally bumped into the theatre for the play. Too exciting! We bumped in Saturday night right after the other play finished and then left everything to stew until Monday when we could really get to work. And I was in charge of the job assigning (painting, polishing, sanding). At first I felt mean asking people to do all the little demeaning things, but after half an hour I became Miss Bossy Britches. Twas fun.

Shane (director) informed me on what a stage manager does (handy to know, seeing as I had no idea previously) and Im getting rather excited about it all. Its a little like being a PA and that means of course that I get to be organised. I love being organised.

*cue laughter from friends who know the state of my room*

But there was one thing she said that may have pushed me in the direction of brown trouser territory. If someone is ill or for some other reason cannot go on stage and they are a woman...I fill in for them. Arrgghhh! Scary much? Although I do pay attention to where everyone sits and where they move to, how they say their lines etc, its still a scary prospect. Oh and it does raise the thought Would they just cut out my part of Cora altogether? None of Coras lines are essential to the plot really and they could probably have someone just run on and do it without any problems.

Weve got a tech run tomorrow night and Thursday night and I am going to be sooo tired. But Im really enjoying a lot. Its starting to make me second guess whether or not I should actually go to Scotland.

Darn it...just having too much fun here at the moment I think. Hmmm, there is another reason for it too, but I don't want to talk about that just yet.

Oooh, mystery!
