Finland is just downright cool! I want to live here...although Anna mentioning that in winter it gets as low as -35C is a bit of turnoff. I can't even imagine what -35C would be like. Insane is the only word I can come up with. At the moment it's a nice average 15C and the sun is shining. Well a little bit anyway.

Yesterday because the weather was okay we decided to walk to the hospital where Viivi (their eldest daughter) had a doctor's appointment. We took the scenic route down by the 'beach' (the town is littered with lakes everywhere so it's not hard to find some waterfront) and then through the forest to the hospital.

It was at this point we realised we were being following - by great big dirty black clouds and the heavens opened. Thanks to Dad for insisting I take the spray jacket and that handy umbrella, very much needed!

Last night was the oldest Finnish (Suomi) tradition - SAUNA! We went to Eija's place (Mum's penfriend) for tea and then sauna. When you're in a new country you try new things and if that's being naked in front of people you've just met then so be it!

It was brilliantly relaxing, my head is still feeling tired and all the stress that had built up from work has disappeared. When I get back from this holiday I'll have to talk to Dad about installing a sauna in the backyard.
