Saturday was spent driving up to Forster for the 18th Forster Ironman Triathlon. It was a dreary day. It rained a lot and was quite cold for most of the day. Chris McCormack kicked butt and won it again. The ladies race was quite exciting because the Canadian Lisa Bentley caught up the leader at that moment Kate Lyon, ten minute in the second half of the marathon. 10 whole minutes. Pretty riveting stuff.

Dad hit the wall (the metaphorical wall). He had an okay bike leg but in the marathon he didn�t fare so well. He ended up walking 10 of the 42km which he�s never done before. He finished in 13hrs 47mins which was his worst time to date, but at least he finished. He�s a hero in my eyes anyway because it takes a lot to do something like that.

He is going to reassess his training for next year and hopefully he�ll come back with a great effort. He wanted to do under 12 hrs this year so you can see how disappointed he was. It was nice to hear the announcer say that he�d done it 17 times though because the crowd cheered louder and ooh and ahhed. Then when he crossed the finish line a reporter from the Wall Street Journal (AP version or something) asked him if he�d mind doing an interview. He asked him about why he did the race, why he kept coming back and how this affected his work or vice versa. That was pretty cool.

Just a bit of house keeping: My sister is entered in the Bride of the Year competition. The prize is a stack of cash which they would put towards a proper honeymoon. Last year their honeymoon was a downer as she got sick and had to come back after a day. I�d appreciate if you�d vote for her at this link.
